Royal stamp of approval for 2012

The International Year of Co-operatives will receive the stamp of approval many times over following the release of the Australia Post commemorate stamps, pre-paid envelope and coin mailer (for the commemorative $1 gold coin released by the Royal Australian Mint in November 2011).

National Launch

100 co-operative representatives joined us on 15 February 2012, for the launch of the IYC 2012 stamps - it was a great event showcasing the diversity and strength of the Australian co-operative sector - a business model with scale.

In a one off coup for Australian co-ops, as The Hon Bill Shorten, Assistant Treasurer reminded last November, Australia is ‘the only nation in the world to produce a collectible coin celebrating the UN International Year of Co-operatives in 2012, as we recognise the impact of the co-operative business model on the burgeoning strength of the Australian economy on the world stage,"
